How do I pull a check engine light code?

My car threw a CEL today and I need to know how to pull the code. I don't really feel like paying the dealership $30 to pull it for me. Can I get this part at an auto parts store?

Passenger side, above the kick panel, look for a 2 pin plug with 2 wires. Ign off, short these 2 wires with a paperclip, turn on ign. Count the flashes of the CEL. Long flashes indicate first digit, short flashes indicate second digit.

Alright, sorry about the short explanation. I had to go cause I had class. Anyways, I'm about to go pull that code. But before I do, I wanted to give a little explanation about what caused or could have caused this code to be thrown. The car is lurching violently then stuttered before it threw the code. At first I thought have could have been a spark plug problem. So I went and got new plugs (BKR7E-11). Gapped them to .38. Went out for a test drive. The car pulled smoothly all the way to redline. Then I tried 3/4 to full acceleration and the car just lurches violently. I would compare it to, a complete momentary lost of power then comes back in. I would think it's a fuel pump problem but I've got the Walbro pump so it can't be that. Wish me luck.

Well low and behold, it looks like I'm throwing 2 codes. The CEL throws a code 7 and the ABS light throws a code 16. Any advice???

I don't really know where my ECT sensor is or what could be wrong with it? As for ABS light I'm completely lost.

Oops...sorry, I looked at the code page again and I mistook it for the wrong one. A code 7 is a TP sensor (Throttle position).

How can ABS light throw code??? If ABS light is on, then you should check the ABS brake system.
As for code 7, its TP sensor. Check your TPS.
And...I'm confused. Can ECU throw 2 codes
AT THE SAME TIME when you count the CEL?
Maybe there is only one code, check again to make sure you pull the correct code.
I just finished my JRSC install on my
hybrid b18c1 '94 del sol and I was torquing
the car today and the CEL is throwing
a code as well I'll have to check..too.
Just my 2 cents.
